Nairobi County Assembly Deputy Speaker and Mihang’o MCA Paul Kados has dismissed the exit of several Jubilee Party officials and elected leaders to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), saying their departure should not be regarded as a loss to the former ruling party.
Speaking on Tuesday at the county assembly premises, shortly after the leaders announced their move to DCP, Kados said those leaving Jubilee had for some time shown disloyalty to the party while openly associating with other political formations.
He argued that the leaders had repeatedly placed political convenience above loyalty to the party that sponsored them and gave them the platform on which they were elected.
“These are individuals who, for some time, have been disloyal to the party at its core, openly caucusing with all manner of political formations depending on what is politically convenient, rather than standing with the party that sponsored them and gave them the platform on which they were elected,” Kados said in a press statement.

The latest exits came during a DCP event at its headquarters in Nairobi where Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan and several Jubilee officials announced their move to the party.
Those who joined DCP included Stanley Kimure, the Jubilee chairman for Starehe, Michael Ngugi of Embakasi South, Joseph Mathenge of Lang’ata, Joseph Waichigo of Kibra, Josphat Kimani of Embakasi North, S. Githuka of Mathare, Francis Njoroge of Roysambu, Eric Mugambi of Embakasi East, Peter Njoroge of Kasarani, G. Ndegwa of Kasarani, and Nimmy Mwangi of Embakasi West.
While acknowledging that Kenya is a multiparty democracy where citizens and political leaders are free to make political choices, Kados criticized what he described as “political promiscuity”.
“Kenya is a multiparty democracy. People are free to make political choices, and we respect that freedom. But political promiscuity is where we should draw the line,” he said
Kados maintained that Jubilee was not weakened by the departure of leaders who had already distanced themselves from the party.
Instead, he said the party was focusing on expanding its support base as the country heads towards the 2027 General Election.
“For us, the more important story is what lies ahead. Every day, we continue to gain new aspirants, partners and members from every corner of Kenya,” he said, adding that the party’s numbers were continuing to grow.
He urged supporters to check the party’s membership numbers by dialing *509# and to join the movement.
“We are not losing what was never truly ours. We are building something bigger,” Kados said.
